Many people face a lot of challenges when they decide to live an active, healthy lifestyle. I know there are many factors that can stand in your way, things like work, family, other commitments, cravings, etc. But, how bad do you want it?
Yes there are a lot of things that can stand in your way, but they only seem that way. If you want something bad enough, you can do anything you want. When it comes to exercising and being active, a 1 hour workout is only 4% of your entire day. So, there is no reason why you can't get to the gym, go for a jog, or do a home workout DVD.
Don't let ANY excuses stand in your way of being happy and healthy!
Believe me, I know about being busy. I have 9 month old twin daughters that I stay home with everyday, I am taking my class for my personal trainer certification, I am still enrolled in college, and I operate 2 businesses with my husband. All while still working out at the gym 3-4 days a week and doing workouts at home the other days. It is not east, but it is POSSIBLE. It is very hard to maintain a household, marriage, family, at the same time as committing to competition prep and maintaining my body.
How I make it all work. No I do not have a nanny, housekeeper, or personal chef, or personal assistant, although ALL of those things would make my life a great deal easier. I see those things as cheating. If I want to reach my goals I can't take shortcuts. Which all of those are shortcuts. I need to know when I get where I want to be that I did it myself. Well, my husband and family do help a lot but, I don't hire help.
I plan, that is how my husband and I make it work. We plan our weeks out in advance, we know what days we go to the gym, work, train clients, have appointments, etc. We food prep on Sunday afternoons and Wednesday evenings. For those of you that do not prep your food in advance you are really missing out. It makes eating right and on time so easy. We still usually make one or two meals a day fresh the others are all pre-made and ready to be heated.
For those of you that think that it is too expensive to eat healthy... not if you do it right. The things we buy regularly for food prep this is the monthly amount. 10 pound bag of rice ($8), 48 pounds of chicken ($88), 9 pounds of tilapia ($39), 20 pounds of sweet potatoes ($14), 10 pounds of oats ($9), 6 pounds of broccoli ($12), 8 pounds frozen whole green beans ($12), 20 pound red skin potatoes ($10), 3 gallons fat free milk ($9), 5 pound bag of MuscleTech protein ($36), 9 pounds bananas ($5), 180 grade A eggs ($20), 4 jars Smuckers Natural Peanut butter ($16). That is pretty much all we buy for an entire MONTH of food. We buy everything bulk at Sam's Club. That is about $278. Much less than your total would be if you were buying frozen dinners, snacks, chips, granola bars, etc. This is for 2 people who eat 5-6 meals a day for any entire month! I obviously do not eat as much as my husband does either.
So, really it is not expensive to eat healthy!
I wrote this blog in an effort to maybe show people that some of the common misconceptions, takes too much time and costs too much, about working out and being healthy may just be excuses. If you want it bad enough you will find a way!
